I had a glorious evening with the lovely folks at Nighthawks in Cardiff last night for their ‘Wines of the Future’ tasting evening. A cracking cheese plate, six wine tastings and a lovely venue – top tier date night material.
Sustainable wines
Sustainable winemaking was not something I knew much about, so it was interesting listening to winemaker Nicola Biasi passionately talk us through each wine, how it was made and the thought process behind each bottle – right down to the inspiration for the labels! Robert and Marco from WinesnVines were also on hand to tell us more about the wines and their partnership with Nicola. If wine is your thing, you can see all three of them at Cardiff Wine Festival in June!
Nicola has founded Resistenti Nicola Biasi – a network of eight farms with sustainability in mind. Their focus is on cultivating vines that are naturally resistant to fungal diseases, to lessen the need for treatments. If you are interested, I highly recommend checking out his website above.

This was the first wine tasting I’ve been to where I can honestly say I really enjoyed each wine I tried. Rob, Fitz and the Nighthawks team were excellent as always, on hand for with my slightly odd questions and my need for a cheese toastie after the tasting session. This was my first wine tasting at Nighthawks but it won’t be the last – loved the evening and already thinking about who we can bring with us next time!
